Settle or try harder?
So have you ever had a job that you liked okay and get paid not the best money but you feel obligated to them like if you leave they just might survive or something? If you found another job that paid a quite a bit more and also more in the field you want to study and open up more doors do you take it? Well this is not me but somebody I know is struggling with this. What would you say to do? This has always been hard for me and I feel I cant give this person too much advice because I HATE getting new jobs and I hate telling an employer that I will be quitting. The only times this has happened are when I am moving like to school or something. I feel so obligated to a job. Why? I am a good worker but they could obviously survive without me. Is it me feeling like I couldn't survive without them? Not sure. Just curious if anybody else has some insight and also what my friend should possibly do, just apply? Keep the job? Oh well we shall see!

I changed my job about 6 months ago for a better paying job. I hated my old job and felt like everything would fall apart if I left. It never does! Life goes on, they hire someone new and before you know it you are happy and sucessful. Seriously sometimes the right thing is doing what is best for you and your situation...at least it was for me.
I am the EXACT same way and have the exact same problem right now actually. I really don't love my job and certain members in the staff make my life miserable...but I just don't feel like I can quit! I hate it :( If you figure out what to tell your friend, pass it on to me, will ya?
I have friends who take the better job. Managers know that people can't live on minimum wage. In this economy, someone else will get hired pretty quickly, too. And who knows? Maybe your friend is supposed to quit so someone else can have their prayers for a job answered? Also, if it's in a field that your friend wants to work in, I'd say go for it. :) Good luck to them!
