Aubrey Michele Pyne

I can't believe that this time a week ago I still had not met Aubrey. I was wondering what she would look like, if she would be healthy, and how I would react when I first met her. It is weird that you bond with this baby inside your stomach but it is like they are a whole other person when they finally get here.

For Aubrey, me, and anyone else this is Aubrey's story:

On Friday November 4, 2011 I called the hospital at 7 pm to see if we were still set to come in at 9 pm for medication to start the induction. Since Aubrey had not made her presence known yet we needed to give her a little kick in the pants. I called and they said to come in whenever so Jake hurried and took a shower and we were on our way to have a baby. It was actually really weird because you expect the franctic screeching into the hospital and being wheeled in but not us. Jake asked if I wanted him to drop me off but I said it was fine since I was feeling just perfect.

We got to the hospital, checked in, and got hooked up to an iv and monitors. I was the only one in labor and delivery so they took good care of me. My nurses Betsy and Kristi were so sweet and were there throughout the whole night. They gave me the cytotec to get the contractions moving. I was having contractions when I went in but had been for 2 weeks and nothing too strong. After about 2 hours the medication was making me have more contractions. Then in the early morning they gave me the pitocin to make the contractions stronger. The contractions then were every minute and pretty strong. Then it was like a balancing act to get the contractions to be a good amount apart, while lasting longer and stronger. By about 8 am I was really in a lot of pain and the contractions were going well and starting to do their job because I was dilated to about a 1 1/2. The doctor was monitoring me at home and said he would be in at 11ish. At about 10 the pain was getting to be really bad. The nurse asked if I wanted the epidural but I was trying to be tough. I didn't say anything but you could see it in my face obviously. She said it wouldn't slow anything down and it would help me to relax so it actually makes the pitocin work better. I decided to get the epidural.

The part I was fearing the most about labor was about to happen. The anesthesiologist came in and was trying to talk to me but I had nothing to do with it. He was saying how quiet I was but apparently when I am in a ton of pain I don't scream I just ignore people. The nurse Jan and Jake were holding me still. I was so jumpy from being nervous, and his cold hands. I was seriously jumping all over the place. They told me to be still and Jake was counting with me to breathe and the did the epidural. It was less painful than the iv. I was so proud that Jake was so awesome about it. I could have sworn he was going to be passed out on the floor by then. Since I was oblivious to a lot that was going on the nurse did a good job keeping Jake entertained. She was from Kansas and was a big football fan so she was talking to him a lot. She was such a sweet lady.

About an hour later Dr. Robert Merrill came in and checked me and said we were ready to break my water. I couldn't feel a thing and then all of the sudden I was wetting my pants in from of the doctor, nurse, and Jake. Good thing by that point you have no decency left so it doesn't matter. The doctor then said that the kid is going to come out with a snorkel because of all the fluid. I was finally feeling better and would actually talk to him.

He then took off a little while later and went to his office so he could be around for when things started to get closer. Not too long after that I was dilated to a 3 and 90% effaced. Things were then starting to get rolling. At about 4:30 I was wanting to push the button for the epidural because the pitocin makes the contractions so painful but the nurse checked me and said I was at a 7 and it would help if I didn't press it because when it came time to push it would be a lot easier. She came back about 20 minutes later and I was at a 10! She told me we were going to start practice pushing. They let the doctor know and he was there about 15 minutes later. We weren't quite ready for him but he said he would just stick around and get scrubbed up. Then he said we were ready to really start pushing. The had a mirror to the side but I was closing my eyes to focus. We started pushing and soon you could see the baby's hair. The doctor told me that she had lots of dark hair and I started to cry. Jake was even looking. Then when the baby started to crown they put the mirror back over so I could see. the doctor said just a few more sets of 3 and she would be here. I then got this huge surge of adrenaline and she was here just 10 minutes later. Right as she was coming out the doctor was saying that she had the cord around her neck. It was wrapped around 3 times but since her cord was 4 times the size of an average umbilical cord it wasn't hurting her at all. She came out with perfect coloring.

Aubrey Michele Pyne was born November 5, 2011 at 6:10 pm. Weighing 7 lbs. 5 oz. and 19 inches long. She had long, dark hair and eyelashes. They immediately brought her up to my chest and Jake and I were both balling. It was one of the most spiritual experiences we had both ever had and it was amazing that we got to share it with each other. The was covered in vernix and all goopy but I didn't care. I couldn't help but love that little angel that had been sent to our family. They then took her over to be weighed and cleaned off. I told Jake he had to make sure to take pictures. She was screaming like crazy. She got an APGAR score of 8 and then 9. She was doing so good. After they cleaned her off they brought her back over to me. She had a good cone head and a little bruising on her back from coming out. Also her head measured large at 36 cm.

The next amazing thing was the doctor telling us a great story. He said how he often takes it for granted what a miracle birth is because he sees it all the time but then it reminded him of an Atheist man at one of his conventions who was talking about how God didn't exist. Our doctor was giving a talk a few days later and he felt prompted to rewrite his talk on family because he was reminded of the everyday miracle that happens when a baby is born. Heavenly Father loves us and is looking out for us and he sends us these little angels to remind us of our life before this one. It was such a great experience because even our doctor helped to bring the spirit into the room.

Not too long after they sent us down to labor and delivery where they took care of us until Monday morning. The first night Aubrey had a quite a bit of amniotic fluid in her and she kept coughing it up until they finally pumped it out on Sunday morning. Everything else was good and so we were able to leave on Monday.

Aubrey had a little bit of Jaundice which we had to get tested on Tuesday and then again on Thursday but it is now much lower and so we don't have to do the lights. She also had her first appointment on Wednesday and she was at 6 lbs. 14 oz.

We are loving every minute with her and trying to figure out the whole parenting thing. It is worth every bit of struggle when we get to see her sweet face.
Welcome to the world Aubrey Michele

Just got a sponge bath
Crazy mohawk
Getting ready to go home
Snuggling with dad after finally getting home
Her first bath at home
Aubrey and her pillow pet from Nana

Our little family. . .life doesn't get better than this!

We love you Aubrey!

October 2011

This past October has possibly been the craziest month of our lives (unless the baby comes in November that might be the craziest). We bought our house, painted like crazy, recarpeted, decorated, fixed a billion things, started to revive grass, and can say that we are finally settled in. We are still unloading boxes, fixing things, putting up curtains, all those fun things, but we are in and ready for this baby to come.

So here are a bunch of pictures to go through the transformation so far of our home and a few other fun things.

The kitchen before and after (we are still in the process hence the tools on the counter)

Front room before and after

The family room before (still working on this one-just got pillows today and putting up curtains tonight)

The master bedroom before and after

And my favorite room in the house: the nursery before and after (notice the nasty carpet stains before. Took these pictures a while ago but now there are curtains that I made and more decorations.

Well that is it for the house. We are still working on stuff and it looks so much different in real life. We are absolutely loving it.

So a few other pictures just because I have been slacking in a very long time.

Jake finally shaved off his SeptemBEARD and we had to take pictures during the process:

Hitler look

Paco look

Foo Man Choo look

And last but not least I had to take a picture because today I am 39 weeks and 6 days!!! My due date is tomorrow but if she doesn't come by next Saturday they are scheduled to induce me. Wish me luck!

End of Summer

I can't believe summer is finally coming to an end and since it is the end of summer then that means we are getting closer to get this baby. Tomorrow I am 35 weeks! I am really getting excited. I can't believe this baby can be here in just a few weeks. The doctor said everything is looking good and measuring great. It was kind of freaky when the doctor was explaining about when to go into the hospital and talking about contractions which I have felt a few of. Really freaky but fun.

In other good news, we signed on our house yesterday! They still have to send it to the bank for the official stamp of approval I guess. We should get the keys in a few days and it will officially be ours. It is getting close to when the baby is due but it will all work out. I can't believe this is actually happening. We ended up getting a bunch of stuff for a greater deal than we even thought. Good things come to those who wait I guess.

So I promised more pictures as we moved along in the process so here is another photo:

Jake's favorite part of the house (actually the r.v. pad which you can kind of see from the front yard picture). He is excited to put his toys on the pad that goes to the backyard and the shed that is in the back. He can't wait to get snowmobiles and put his jeep crawler back there. He already has plenty of it planned out. My favorite part is of course the kitchen but not at this point. It has lovely white and blue marble looking countertops and is missing a fridge :) That just meant that I got to get new nice stainless steel appliances with my new gas stove that is waiting to be put in. Can't wait!

Well I am glad it all got figured out before because Jake went to Moab this morning. They are doing one last party before Jared leaves on his mission. Also we had a fun time on Tuesday at the shower for Valerie and I. Got just about everything I need for the baby just need a few more things like a swing, rocking chair, and other little things. Thanks to everyone who came. Well that is all the news for now. Hopefully news on the house really soon.

Sneak Peak

So here is a sneak peak of the house:

*This was taken when the house wasn't abandoned and the grass was still there. It is MUCH more dead now but it will come back next year and nothing a little roundup can't fix.

The house is officially under contract so I figured I could post a picture. Jake and I plan on taking a lot of before and after pictures because we want to do a lot of stuff. We are really excited because of the price and the size of the house. It is 2300 sf with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. We will post more pictures as it goes along and things start moving through. The closing date as of now is supposed to be the 19th so hopefully everything goes well.

The Nesting Is Setting In!

So the nesting is officially set in or else the fear that the house will go through and I won't have any time after since we will be working on the house. So here is a little preview of what I have been making. The first is the car seat cover and hopefully the next few days I can put up the tutorial for the quilt.

Parking Wars in Draper, UT

So this year we finally decided to put Jake's truck into his name since a Missy Pyne no longer exists and hasn't for 10 years! It was under Missy and Jeff's names (my sister and father in law) and Jake has had it from before his mission but we decided we should finally take responsibility and change it over. Also his registration was up today so we figured why not do it now so we don't have to pay the taxes twice.

So I was on the hunt to find everything we needed, get it signed and take to the DMV. I needed both Missy and Jeff to sign the title and Jake to sign it. Then fill out this application. Then I called again and they said I needed more crap. Then went to get Jake's truck to get I/M and safety or whatever and it failed because of his brakes. Then I got his brakes fixed yesterday. Then they retested it. Thanks Grease-N-Go they were so great. Then I called the DMV this morning amongst all the other craziness and the guy said I needed the insurance, bill of sale, and a signed letter from Jake giving me permission to do it all. Well we got all of that figured out somehow and I finally went into the DMV.

If you have never seen Parking Wars you should look it up. We love watching it on Netflix. It is about the parking authority in Philadelphia and it shows all the crap that people do, getting tickets, paperwork to get car out of impound lot. It is really funny. So after all of this run around I was afraid I was going to have a Parking Wars moment at the DMV today. I got there and the line wasn't very long. I got up to the counter in probably 20 minutes. Then the lady was as nice as could be and got everything handled in less than 3 minutes. Also she didn't need half of the paperwork the doof on the phone told me I would need. Hey I didn't care. Jake's truck is official ours now. Thank you Draper DMV!

Just thought I would share my funny story.

So in other news the wedding has been postponed for Jer and Val due to paperwork issues. We are still excited and are having a shower in a few weeks for her and for the baby. It will be one big party!

Also we got the approval on the house! We found out last night at almost 9 pm. If it all works out we will be in it by the end of the month. Everyone say a little prayer it works out. Our inspection is tomorrow so pray for everything to go well.

Baby Shower for the Little One

So this past week my sisters and mom gave me the greatest baby shower. It was so much fun and all I have to say is that this baby is going to be the most fashionable little thing. Also thanks to everyone who came and for all the gifts. Especially those who came from far away. I love you all!

 Audrey and I
"My Auntie Loves Me" This little one will for sure know that her auntie Lucy loves her (this is the third outfit about her auntie Lucy)
The bumbo that Mallory and Erin gave me. My mom still can't remember if it is a bumbo or bimbo. So my baby officially has a bimbo?! Not sure how I feel about that.
 Me and Britt

Michele, Mal, Me, Lis, and Riley (he snuck into the party)
Grandma Hofheins and me. She made the cutest quilt!
 Guests
More Family

Lots and lots of presents. Thanks again everyone!

Katie, Julie, and I
My mom, sisters, and me. Sorry Teresa couldn't be here. We love you Teres!
Chris, me, and Ruth
Ruth and I (she is a few weeks ahead of me). Didn't mean to match but it made a cute picture. Me at 30 weeks and Ruth at 36.
Teri and I. Couldn't get the picture to turn but I loved this picture too much to not put it on.

It was so much fun and then I also got my car seat and stroller last week which should be here tomorrow. I will put pictures when I start getting stuff put together. Just kind of in limbo with the house so haven't put up many pictures of the baby stuff. Jake actually came with me to get the car seat and stroller and he loved the one I picked. He even agreed with not getting the cheap one so I got the one I wanted. He laughed when I told him how excited I was to get it. Also I got 70 dollars off the set so it made it even better! Now my baby can come if she really needs to but we are holding off for 2 more months as of tomorrow.

The last bit of news that I can't resist not to share: Jeremy and Valerie are getting married! They have been engaged since July 4th but they couldn't proceed with anything because Val was married before and they want to get married in the temple. Well either her ex was cooperative or a turd because it just went through and they are getting married any week now. They want to do it before Jared leaves on his mission (Oct. 5th). I am so excited that they found each other and can't wait for this wedding (except the extremely puffy pictures of me). So fun!

A Huge Task At Hand

How do mother's know everything?! Well I know they don't actually know everything but I just wonder if the knowledge just comes over time or if it is one of those gifts that Heavenly Father gives us to care for our children. Let me explain:

This morning my mom came downstairs to tell me that they were leaving for Bear Lake. Then an hour later they were still here and she came down to wake me up. She said I needed to get out of bed. It smelt like a fire. She said she wasn't too concerned because it has the scent of a field fire and not an electrical fire. It must have been pulled in from outside by the swamp cooler. She wanted me awake just in case something happens. The question that just keeps ringing in my head is how did my mom know that it wasn't in the house and it was a field fire? I will be honest I have no idea what the scent difference is between a field and electrical fire. Then it got me thinking what a huge task at hand I have to learn what a mother has to know to raise children. The first thing that came to my mind was what things I would grab to take with me. Want to know my mom's response...make sure to just get out. We have insurance and I don't care if the house burns down. She was a little dramatic but made me realize that since I am housing a little baby right now that is my number one priority. I never thought I was too much of a materialist person but I guess there is still a part of me that hasn't realized the importance of motherhood. I guess I have 2 months to learn.

So thanks to all the moms and especially my own for knowing the smells of different fires, when a sickness needs a doctor and when it just needs to be slept on, what gets out all the stains in clothes, how to teach self-esteem, and many of the other numerous things that it takes to raise and keep a kid safe. I have a lot to learn but I am getting there.

30 Weeks...Life is Starting to Get Uncomfortable

This past Friday I hit 30 weeks! I am loving being pregnant now except now only one pair of pants fit me :( I am officially in all maternity clothes except one pair of capris. Sad day. On the other hand everything is going good. Starting to get a little more uncomfortable and I definitely need my own space in bed. The baby has been moving like crazy and I am loving it.

This week we got paperwork to close on our house so it should be closing by September 18th! Yay. Everyone say a little prayer that it all works out or baby will be coming while living in my parent's basement. I would complain but living here has helped us save more money for the house and baby. Thankfully my parents are amazing and have been so great while we have been here.

When we finally get the stuff finalized with the house I will put the ghetto pictures up. It needs a little work on it but it is a great house. We have lots of plans for it though. Good thing Jake is a handyman who can fix it all. I can do the extra little stuff.

Well here is to 10 more weeks and lots that has to be done in that time! I guess she will come when she is ready not when we are.

Girl's Weekend

This last weekend was a blast! I went down to St. George with the girls (Jake's mom, sister, aunts, and cousins). We spent a lot of time shopping, swimming, and just doing girl stuff. Also I got my quilt quilted and worked on it a ton this past weekend thanks to my Aunt Meagan. I am almost done and will post a picture when it is finished. We stayed in a condo down there and had such a fun time.

Today I had a doctor's appointment today and everything went great. The doctor said my measurements are "perfect." That is always reassuring when you feel completely not normal being preggo. My belly measured exactly at 29 1/2 weeks, I have gained exactly what is normal, and the baby is kicking like crazy. The doctor was suprised not to see Jake today but since I did the appointment earlier in the day it took half the time so I figured it wasn't a big deal. Probably will have him come after the next appointment when everything is a little more of crunch time.

I have also been crafting a lot lately. I am finishing the baby's quilt, been making cute burp clothes, and I am making the car seat cover next week probably. It is so fun. I still have a ton that I want to make but just taking the big ones first so I make sure they get done. Jake has actually been really cute about it saying that he likes it because they are looking good and I am saving money (we saw bedding sets at babies r us and they are over 150 and I made my quilt for a third of that and it is way cuter!).

Also we are getting stuff prepped for getting a house. The approval should go through soon but still no guarantee. I do have to say that I got a killer deal on Jake a new toy though. I got a Dewalt drill and his 100 piece drill bit set (which he has had by his side the whole night) for 130. The drill is usually 190 and the bit set is usually 60 so I think I pretty much rocked that deal. Plus I also have a really happy hubby who is going to fix everything in the house and put together all the baby stuff :)

Other than that we are doing good just keeping busy. Hopefully Jake gets a side job he is bidding out this week which will give some extra money for the house and baby. He is pretty excited about it. He has just been working like crazy and I have been working a little bit for my father-in-law and doing my part-time job at home. Also my sister is doing my first baby shower this next week which should be really fun. Needless to say, it has been a really good week.

August 2011

I know August isn't over yet but here is a bit of what has been going on the last couple days and the end of July.

So last week I went looking for cribs and the one I thought I wanted ended up being a cherry color so I kept looking to find a brown one. I then found the crib online for a crazy good deal. I told my mom and she didn't believe me that it was a new crib. It was going to take a few weeks to get here but figured it wasn't a big deal because we haven't got our house yet. Well we got an email 2 days ago saying it is being sent already so it should be here by the end of the week or Monday. I am actually really excited because I want to find a rocking chair and dresser that match. I decided against a changing table that matched because I have changed babies lots of times and have seen many changed and I know you don't hardly use them. I would rather use the money to get something else. So here is the crib I got:
I am so excited because it is a convertible one that is nice but nothing too fancy. Good heavens the baby is going to have a nicer room than us. Also at the price I got it, I couldn't pass it up. I asked Jake if we could put it up already but he said no. I was just joking but in a month or two we will be getting there. I am less than 3 months away from this baby coming. I also got the awesome pack n play that I wanted for crazy cheap too. It is a brand new style with the napper and changer on it which is usually 170 but I got it for 109 then I got a free umbrella stroller (19.99) and a $10 gift card back. I was pretty excited and it is super cute. No big pink flowers. We are trying to keep it all gender neutral (except the adorable clothes :)

Also, yesterday we went to the temple for my brother Jared's endowments. He is leaving for his mission the beginning of October to Washington D.C. South. I will be honest I am going to miss him so much. Jared is my little pal that I always laugh at and joke with and it will be really sad to see him go. Also he is going to miss the baby by 3 or 4 weeks. I know he will do an amazing job though. It was really nice to go with all the family last night. Afterwards, we went back and had ice cream at my in-laws.

Next weekend, I am taking a trip with the girls down to St. George and I couldn't be more excited. Jake decided he would try his guys weekend again at Millsite in Ferrin (it is a golf course and it got cancelled my last girls weekend because they had a scramble to show off their new 9 holes). Well he sent them an email yesterday and guess what?! They are having another scramble! Poor guy can't catch a break. It is this gold course in the middle of nowhere and he picks the two days that they have days he can't go. They are going to see what else they can do instead. We will see.

Well I think that is about it for right now. Hope everyone is having a fun summer!

Third Trimester!

So hello to my third trimester and goodbye to the second. I am a little sad because I have loved my second trimester. It has been a lot of fun and here is why:
-feeling her move all the time. It makes me smile everytime.
-I don't really like the Braxton Hicks but it is kind of cool that my body knows what is going on. Our bodies are so smart.
-feeling great. Just getting a little tired throughout the day but no sickness at all.
-getting prepped and starting to buy bigger baby things, not just clothes.
-talking to the baby. Mostly singing but some talking. Still when no one is around.

I am not so excited for the third trimester because I know it will get uncomfortable (it already is starting). There are some definite things I don't like about pregnancy but it is definitely worth it so we won't go into that. So here is to 3 more months of pregnancy and then I am officially evicting her out.

27 Weeks (3rd Trimester)
Had to take a picture since I only have one other picture of my pregnancy. So here it is mirror and all in the dark bathroom. Hey you can see the belly and that is all that matters. :)

In other news, my brother in law graduated from Paramedic school today. We are so excited for him. He is already a firefighter so it just means more money (which is great because his department paid for him to go to school also)! My sister is also looking forward to a more normal life.

Well that is all. Hopefully we have more exciting news this next week!

Filtration System

I have decided some people were not built with a filtration system. I will admit sometimes I say stupid stuff but it is interesting the crazy things you hear when you are pregnant. There are some people who will flat out tell you that you look huge...thank you but I am 4 pounds under where I should be weight wise. It just made me laugh because I heard a funny comment the other day and I just have to laugh when people say crazy stuff. Or when people are just flat out rude. Oh well. If we don't laugh then we really do feel like a cow or whatever they say to us. So here is to all the other HUGE mamas out there. I still think you all are sexy!

In other news: we got a counteroffer from the bank and we accepted it (1500 more). Hopefully we hear this week if the house is ours or not. Everybody say a little prayer for us and cross your fingers! I will let you know what happens.

July 2011

This month has been really fun and pretty crazy. I think that is how everyone's summers are though.

First off we had another ultrasound on Tuesday and everything went great. They wanted to just check the size and the profile. They said she is exactly on track like before with a size to be due November 3rd which is a few days past my due date but she is just smaller so they are still sticking to October 29th as my due date. She is 1 pound and 9 oz! Weird to think that I have that big of a baby in my stomach. Also I have gained 9 pounds which I am supposed to be at 13 or so but he said that is normal. It is nice to know that she is gaining weight because it means she is growing and also it means that I am not just getting fat. My baby is approximately in the 33rd percentile but who knows. I am still a little hesitant because I was a fat baby when I was born. Other than that I am now officially 26 weeks! That means 14 weeks left to go! I am excited it is getting closer but I keep thinking that I might need more time to get everything ready and seeing as we don't have a house yet, it makes it a little complicated. Hopefully we will be getting news this next week since they sent paperwork in for a final approval on price.
Not the greatest picture because of my phone and the lighting but you can see her noggin and cute nose at the top. Jake and I were laughing when I was joking that she has Jake's nose. I think it is funny when people think that because to be honest, she still looks like an alien. I don't care though, she is my cute alien. Also since we went in at just over 17 weeks and then this one at 25 1/2 weeks it is crazy to see the difference. Before she fit on the whole screen and now all that will fit is her big head :)

Also in other good news, we got a new couch and love seat. They had a killer deal clearance sale at Ashley Furniture on the set but we couldn't decide so we looked into a few other places and I found an ad on KSL for the set for 700 dollars which was 100 dollars less. Then I went in and they said they could get it in sooner, give me 25 bucks off for paying with a check or cash, and they can hold them until we get a house (if it is soon, if not they will go to our storage unit). We are pretty excited. They are durablend which have the part leather in them so they are easy to clean. So we got both for 675 when they are like 1800 usually at Ashley Furniture.
Everything else is going really good just keeping busy and trying to have some fun. Also one more question I have been thinking about lately. Do people still register for babies or is that weird? With your first what did you buy or did you see if anyone would get it for you. I just see crazy registries online and I was wondering if people actually still do registries or do they just buy you what they want. I will be honest I never look at baby registries to get a present but I also have never had much money to get big presents. Just curious on your opinions. Also where did you splurge on baby stuff? The crib? Travel System? Clothes? Just wondering.

My Crafting is back!

Okay so since I have a little more time now that school is out and things have slowed down for a little bit I have really gotten back into crafting. So I started a blog last year and it has been abandoned by last semester of school, student teaching, Jake starting a new job, being sick because of baby, moving, and so forth but now it is back in motion. I am going to be putting a quite a few things on there because I am getting crafty to decorate for the little one. So here is a sneak peak of my latest project that I made while Jake and I watched Lord of the Rings last night. He was just glad that I kind of payed attention.

I am in the process of making the quilt and cute burp clothes if I can get this machine to work. My sewing machine is lost in the deeps of our storage so we will see how this turns out.

The link to my crafting blog is http://lynettescreations.blogspot.com/ Check it out and let me know what you think.
